U18 Cluster team announcement – congratulations to the Kerikeri Netball Centre players!

Kia ora koutou katoa

We were very excited to host our first Cluster trial last Sunday.

The Cluster Working Group are extremely grateful to those that took time to support and assist on the day:

Annie Pivac, Phillipa King, Jody McKenzie, Natalie Moon, Rhonda Martin-Raharuhi, Tanya Proctor, Sophy Tua, Rebecca Simper and Trina Henare.

We would also like to acknowledge the parental and whanau support of our players, and the support of the six Cluster Centres, and the Cluster Working Group members.

Sophy Tua has been appointed Team Manager and will be the point of contact for squad players.  Players have all been emailed to advise of selection and contact details.

A travelling team will compete at Netball North Harbour on Sunday 19th June, and we wish the team all the best for their first outing.

Congratulations to the selected squad members.

Cadbury VOM Information 2022

All centres received an email from Jenna Murie this week outlining information on Cadbury Volunteer of the Month.  More info will be posted on Social Media Monday 2nd May so look out for it.

The VOM  is such a cool way to recognise all the wonderful volunteers at your Centre.

Its so easy to nominate, and anyone can submit a form.  So socialise this with your clubs, schools, parents and supporters.

Waiuku Netball Centre members submitted a whopping 138 nominations in 2021…that is outstanding…

The challenge is on…can your Centre top Waiuku’s effort from last year??

Males in Netball…it’s a hot topic for many Centres so jump online and let’s get this chatter going!  Hear from Taranaki Netball Centre who have included boys in netball grades for many a year plus added boys/mixed grades to their Annual Under16 tournament. We also have Irene Van Dyk, Netball NZ Participation Manager to update us on where the Males in Netball working group is at and their findings over the past months.  And as always, we have Centres from within our Zone that can offer their experiences as we connect and share our experiences and insights.

Message from David Cooper, NNZ Head of Commercial

Greetings All,

We understand that Spark Sport are reaching out directly to Netball Centres asking for them to promote Super Netball to their database and also asking for posters to be put up at the Centre. In return they are offering some freebies.

Can I please ask that you communicate urgently to your Centres that this offer should not be accepted.

It would seriously undermine the relationship netball has with SKY and the tremendous support they provide that allows our game to be what it is through all levels. It also cuts across our own promotion of the ANZ Premiership and how you view that.

If any Centre has any questions please let them know they can email me on davidc@netballnz.co.nz or call me on 021724830.

Ng? mihi,

David Cooper
